Recycle essence products correctly
Make-up should be fun - for you, for us and, of course, for the environment. Together with the “Waste Separation Works” initiative, we will show you how to properly separate and dispose of your empty make-up or nail polish bottles, tubes, folding boxes, and more – for more recycling and a better material cycle.
Packaging should always be completely empty but rinsing it out is not necessary! The empty packaging is then disposed of separately in the bins provided for this purpose, depending on the packaging component. But only the packaging components that you can easily detach from each other by hand, please! So, for example, caps, lids or pumps. If a package isn’t empty, it’s best to dispose of it in the residual waste bin.
You can dispose of these discarded make-up and beauty products in the Yellow Bin when they are empty:
Aluminium or plastic tubes
Plastic bottles
Other plastic packaging such asmascara , lipstick, lip gloss , or eyeshadow palettes
Pump dispensers from make-up bottles
Cardboard packaging such as eyeshadow palettes with bonded aluminum pans or mirrors
You can dispose of any leftover bottles of nail polish, make-up or perfume in the glass bin. The lid and pump dispenser of our products are often made of plastic, so you can remove them beforehand and then dispose of them with your plastic waste.
Important to know: Please dispose of nail polish bottles that have not been emptied via the recycling centre.
You can dispose of all packaging that exclusively consists of paper or cardboard in the paper bin. These are often folding boxes and the outer packaging of products.
As the Expert for Corporate Responsibility at essence, Daniela deals with various sustainability topics, with a particular focus on zero waste. Her tip for integrating proper waste separation more into everyday life: “As a rule of thumb, you can remember: All empty packaging that is not made of glass or cardboard should be disposed of in the yellow bin.”
