the Industrieverband Körperpflege und Waschmittel (german cosmetic, toiletry, perfumery and detergent association) is the umbrella organisation for the german cosmetics industry: www.ikw.org. this site features some interesting items of information on cosmetics.
ingredients
ingredients are given in full as so-called INCI names (see under INCI above, also “full declaration“). all ingredients undergo strict testing prior to marketing. any number of banned substances exist whilst others are permitted only to a limited extent (e.g. preservatives) or demand specific levels of purity. all companies are subject to the strict regulations of the eu cosmetics directive and/or the german cosmetics act. the ingredients as well as manufacturing process are crucial as far as the quality of a product is concerned. ingredients are frequently checked by the german supervisory authorities.
