uv protection factor
uv protection extends the period the skin can protect itself by the respective given factor. for example, if your skin starts going red after 10 mins, with uv protection factor 8 you can stay in the sun for 80 minutes.

uv rays
we distinguish between 3 types of uv rays: uv a-rays, uv-B rays and uv-c rays. only the uva- and uvb-rays reach our skin because the uv-c rays are blocked out by the sky. although uva and uva will give you a healthy tan, skin damage may be caused as a result of excessive exposure and/or in the case of sensitive persons (see sun protection). too frequent sunbathing and sunburn increases the risk of contracting skin cancer in later life.

uv-filter
are not only used to protect the skin from the damaging effect of the uv rays but also to protect the products and ensure that their colours remain stable. example: the “benzophenone“ types. however, the usage concentration is only very slight.
